Buyers Pre-Purchase Surveys

This is the most comprehensive type of inspection and is strongly advised when purchasing a new or used vessel of any class and size. The condition and overall operation of the vessel will be inspected using Uniform Marine Standards of the American Boat and Yacht Council, National Fire and Protection Association and United States Coast Guard Regulations. This includes such items as structural integrity, out of water hull and running gear inspection, trial run, electrical systems, propulsion system, fuel system, machinery, navigation electronics, safety equipment, fire suppression systems, various on board systems and alarms, cosmetic appearance and overall maintenance. This type of marine survey is the most extensive type available. The marine surveyor performs a thorough inspection of all internal and external components of the vessel. The purpose of this survey is to make sure that you are buying a vessel that is in good condition and properly valued. Values for each vessel are determined using Professional Appraisal Practice and Code of Ethics. A detailed report with photographs is prepared the next business day inclusive of deficiencies, recommendations and fair market value.

Insurance Survey/Inspection

This Condition and Valuation is performed in order for the insurance company to determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk. They are interested in structural integrity and safety for its intended use using the above mentioned standards.

Appraisal Inspection

This inspection is performed to gather enough information to justify or determine the fair market value of the vessel. This may be needed for financing, estate settlements or donations and duties.
